Contract1 Foundation

Something that I've been wanting to do for a while now is establish a way of giving back to the communities in which we reside and work. For this reason, Contract1 Pty Ltd has established a company called Contract1 Foundation Pty Ltd and have applied to the Australian Taxation Office and the Minster for Finance to established a Prescribed Private Fund.

The funds aim is outlined in our submission to the ATO where we have to outline our intentions. Here is what I wrote.

The intention of the Contract1 Foundation is to provide long term benefits to the community with a focus on national environmental causes and local ACT charitable foundations.

In relation to the environment, the Contract Foundation will support organisations such as Bush Heritage Australia which are focused on the long term and strive to protect Australia’s unique and abundant diversity of life. They achieve this by acquiring and managing land, water and wildlife of outstanding conservation value.

In relation to the local ACT area, several organisations provide community support to underprivileged and disadvantaged people. These include OzHarvest Canberra which collects excess food and delivers it, free of charge, to organisations that feed disadvantaged men, women and children in the local community and Conservation Volunteers Australia which facilitates and manages a force of volunteers in practical conservation projects for the betterment of the local ACT environment.

The intentions of the Contract1 Foundation would be achieved by distribution of the income of the Contract1 Foundation to Deductible Gift Recipients such as those aforementioned and other like institutions.

We'd love it if our contractors get actively involved, and I hope to have Foundation up and operating by about April or May 2009. Stay tuned.
